Reviewed in Canada on October 4, 2018 Style: S (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase My daughter was born with torticollis. Unfortunately, due to this she developed a flat spot on the right side of her head and the back of the head. At 9 weeks old, the difference was 8mm (side) and 89.2%(back) and we were advised that she would likely require a helmet. That night I did quite a bit of research and came across the mimso pillow. After reading the reviews, I decided that, although it is much more expensive than other preventative pillows, I would feel comfortable letting her use it at night since the pillow is lightweight and breathable. The pillow arrived the very next day and we have been using it whenever she is on her back (daytime, nighttime, mamaroo, stroller). The pillow won't cure torticollis; however, I truly believe that it was instrumental in decreasing her plagiocephaly from 8mm to 4mm and brachcephaly from 89.2% to 87.5% in only two weeks (she is now 11 week's old) in combination with physical therapy, increased tummy time and completing exercises/stretches at home. There is no longer a discussion of her needing a helmet and I am so thankful for that. I really believe that this pillow made a world of difference and we will continue to use it everyday to prevent any regression. I also believe that you get what you pay for. Although this pillow is more expensive then other preventative pillows, it is the only one that is a class 1 medical device in Canada and that was really important to me. I have attached before (left) and after (right) photos UPDATE: At our follow-up physio appointment when she was 16 weeks old her plagiocephaly had further decreased from 4mm to 2mm. Her brachcephaly remained unchanged. She is rolling now and sleeps on her tummy but we continue to use the pillow during the day when she is on her back. 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing results!! Images in this review Reviewed in Canada on September 26, 2017 Style: S (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase This pillow is incredibly expensive so why buy it? NOTE - I am not a doctor (just a parent). I printed off a copy of this advertisement and showed it to our doctor before purchasing to get their okay and even showed it to them before beginning use after we received it just to be sure. Do the same as medical advice will change over time and based on your child's particular medical history. Background - Newborns have soft unhardened skulls. As a result, when following doctor's advice to have them sleep on their backs to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) they may develop a slightly flattened head (or they may be born this way during passage through the birth canal during a natural birth - no fault of the mother it just happens). If your baby does have a slightly flattened skull always check with your doctor to make sure it is just that and not torticollis a problem that will require professional medical treatment. A slightly flattened head is common and doctors will tell you it is only a cosmetic defect (i.e., if their skull hardens into a slightly flattened shape they will be 100% healthy with no adverse cognitive or other impairment). However, as parents who of us doesn't want our children to be as physically perfect and good looking as possible (if for nothing else than that their life will be that much easier)? The goods news is that in most cases it is both preventable and reversible in early infancy (less than 1 year). Frequently check on them while they are sleeping, always make sure they are on their back, and (a) if they have a slightly flattened skull turn it to lie on the unflattened side so the flattened side "rebounds" as they grow, or (b) if their head is perfectly round occasionally turn it from side to side to prevent any one side from flattening out (infants like adults will frequently have a favourite position left, right or facing up which can cause the problem if they are not born with it). A big part of the problem is that ordinary pillows and other soft objects to lay babies' heads on are not recommended as babies can easily suffocate if they slip under them for any reason. That is where this pillow comes in. We bought this pillow for just that reason. We can never know if it was the reason our child has a normal head now but we can say it cradled their little head perfectly and did 2 things that we think justified the price: 1) their head was cradled by a very soft cushioning so even when on the wrong side the pressure was light; and NOTE - It will only help while your child is very young (less than a year old). After that it is just a very expensive pillow. Reviewed in Canada on March 16, 2016 Style: S (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase Just received this yesterday. Not exactly what's had expected. But I will give it a try. Doesn't seem as though it should have cost me $120. I have taken pictures of my daughters head and will continue to document every week to see if there is a difference. UPDATE 2.0 out of 5 stars Not sure yet. Just received this yesterday. Not exactly what's had expected. But I will give it a try. Doesn't seem as though it should have cost me $120. UPDATE Images in this review Reviewed in Canada on February 19, 2018 Style: M (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase I wish would have noticed the flat spot sooner so I would have purchased this sooner. We started using at 3 months when the flat spot (mild) on the back left side of the head was first noticed. The baby had a tendency to look to the left, and rarely to the right. We used this during the day and at night, along with exercises to encourage the baby to look in both directions (as per chiropractor), plenty of tummy time, baby carrier, Bumbo, and exersaucer. By 4 months the head shape has improved markedly - it is not perfectly symmetrical, but I do believe using the pillow has greatly contributed to rounding out the head as it looks near normal. 5.0 out of 5 stars Increíble Reviewed in Mexico on January 26, 2019 Style: S (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase En cuestión de 1 mes la cabeza de mi bebé estaba completamente diferente a cuando comenzamos a utilizarla, mi bebé estuvo 3 meses en cama de hospital cuando nacio (prematura) y su cabecita quedo muy plana de un lado, este cojin le arregló todo el problema y ahorita a su año 6 meses se ve perfecta 5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente Reviewed in Mexico on April 22, 2020 Style: Large Verified Purchase Es una maravilla!!!, 1ero. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great to correct plagiocephaly Reviewed in Australia on January 21, 2021 Style: S (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase What I like the Mimos pillow is it's firm, and it comes in different sizes to accommodate the head of the baby. Because the pillow is firm, baby's head follows the shape of the pillow, which enables the correction of plagiocephaly. Review:Reviews with images

2) our child could always sleep comfortably on their back to reduce the risk of SIDS without our worrying about an increased risk of a flattened skull.
Just realized I forgot to update 🙄 it did seem to help some, she still ended up in a helmet though. I feel as if maybe we had found this sooner or maybe if her head wasn't quiet as bad. Still don't think it's worth what I paid. Maybe $50 MAX is what I would pay again, if that. Desperate parents spend $120 on a freaking pillow that their kid is going to use for a few months..

UPDATE: At 5 months the head shape has no distinct deformity and looks normal. The pillow was used in the crib from 4 months to 5 months only during nap time and night sleep. The baby is beginning to move in the crib more so occasionally the pillow is not under the baby's head when he wakes. We will continue to use the pillow until the baby head size becomes too big for the pillow or until the baby moves around so much it is no longer useful, whichever comes first (most likely the latter). I do not have any plans to purchase the next size up since the baby's head is no longer misshapen and the baby no longer favours a particular direction. I would definitely recommend this pillow for a baby with a similar condition to mine. Top reviews from other countries
I only wish there would be a slight improvement as the baby's head often slides from the pillow. Maybe this is due to the polyester material.
Great to correct plagiocephaly but maybe a pillowcase will prevent baby's head from slipping from the pillow.
